Ganges class sing the 6 X table

In the run up to the end of the autumn term Ganges class gave their new green screen a try out. The pupils had been working on their 6 X table knowledge so it was time for lights, camera and action as they worked in small groups to perform their version of a song to a well known tune from a few years ago.

For the spring term of 2019 everyone is pushing on with improving their knowledge of the 7 X table. Watch this space for their next offering!

Year 4 are TT Rockstars - It's official!

Thanks to much work at home after school this week Year 4 have been victorious in the Battle of the Bands time tables challenge with Year 5. This video shows how great times table knowledge allied to fast fingers gains lots of times tables points for class. Very well done everyone. Year 4 might just challenge Year 6 next!

The circus comes to town

Circus Workshop

On Monday twentieth of November, year 4 and I went to a workshop about anti bullying. You should have seen it! The person who did the workshop with us was called Maria, and she was really nice. We started by pretending to be certain people at the circus, and we had two minutes to make a performance (I was an elephant)! The people in my group made up a show brilliantly because they had super imagination. Then Maria told us a story, and she said something along the lines of  (I’m trying to make it short)“Everyone wanted to go first in the circus show last night, but it ended up being a mess, the children cried, and the adults were really angry!” We were then asked to say something that the people at the circus could say to apologise. Mine was sorry, and my team went with it. I won’t flatter myself too much, but sorry is quite practical and nobody else thought of it! After that, we were assigned to different letters of respect depending on the first letter of our team. Everybody (except me) thought that ‘everybody’ was a good idea, even though the Escape artists said ‘everyone’ which is the same thing. I didn’t care much though.Everyone got into order, and my team was the second ‘e’ in respect. It was either Mr Marshall or Ms Readman who took the picture of the whole class (they’re year 4’s teachers, but there’s also Ms Pakalna), but it was an amazing picture!

The circus workshop

On Monday a lady called Marria from one day came to our school to do a workshop about anti bullying. First she told us some warm ups for our mouths so we said different fruits in different voices. Then we pretended we were in a circus and we all were different acts I was an escape artist so I had to pretend I was tied up.We all had little props the escape artists had orange hats, then we all thought of an act  to pretend we were in a circus. After we were pretending we were all fighting over whom would go first. The show was just starting the ringmasters were introducing everybody to the circus when all of the acts came in saying that they want to go first and they were the best.Everybody was booing, shouting and throwing popcorn everywhere. Then we were talking about how they were all bullying each other and being mean.

Patrick’s circus recount

On Monday Maria (the woman who was in the circus) helped us do the workshop. I was a plate / hat spinner, my hat had multi coloured stripes. We spun the hats fast on our fingers. There were also other acts like strong men and women, escape artists, trapeze, ring masters, elephant trainers and clowns. At the start of the show the ring masters did their act but the strong people pushed them then the elephant trainers pushed the strong people and their weights fell on the men and womens toes and so on. Next we had to think of ways to help the circus. Once we had done that she handed out the letters that spell RESPECT. Finally we had a big photo in our groups (with the letters).

Harvest Festival Reviews

Harvest Festival Review of Jai & Rylan

Loads of parents came to the Harvest Festival and it was on the 4th of October 2018.I think people thought it was good.In the assembly we had 3 flip grids. There were Rory and Rylan,Jai and James and Sara with Anna.First we did Rory and Rylan. We also Sara and Anna.Next we did James & Jai.We thought it was really fun and excellent. We sang Autumn days,Cabbages and greens broccoli  and beans ect.Year 5 made harvest links.Year 6 made a song with Mr Davies that was really fun.Harvest is for us to celebrate our food and to worship those who aren’t lucky enough to have food to survive and live for long. It’s really sad for people across the world such as us it might be you who will die from it next.

Harvest Review by Hayley and Edwin

In our school we celebrate Harvest festival and we did Flipgrids on Harvest festivals too. Harvest festival is a celebration is a way to say thank you to God for our food. The Harvest is in the autumn time and you bring tinned food, and food that’s non perishable. We sing different songs Cabbages and greens, Thank you Lord for this new day and Autumn days. All the school was in the hall to sing harvest songs and parents were there too to support. Every class did different things to show in sharing assembly.   In the assembly the other classes showed their work to the others and the parents, Reception children painted some Harvest pictures using orange, red and yellow paint, Year one made autumn trees for harvest, year six sang a song too.

Harvest Festival review
by Hanna & Katarina

On Thursday 4th October, we held a harvest assembly and a lot of parents were there. Katarina had a line and it was the second line of the assembly! We sung three amazing  songs, which were “Cabbages and greens” “Thank you lord” and “Autumn days”. Both of our moms were here and they really liked the assembly! We made flip grids for harvest, but we  only showed three of them because there wasn’t enough time to show all of them! The flip grids that were shown were James’s and Jai’s, Anna’s and Sara’s, and Rory’s and Rylan’s.We brought food in for charity. The charities were PAFRAS and Food bank. It was very fun singing to our parents, carers, and friends! Other classes showed some work just like we showed our flip  grid, lots of classes showed some artwork. ssembly was about half an hour, but it seemed like longer! I enjoyed singing all the harvest songs. Around the world, other people celebrate harvest festival, but we celebrated it the way we think it should be celebrated, on the day we think it should be celebrated, and tell people why we think it should be celebrated. We love Harvest time, especially when we do a Harvest Festival! Some people don’t celebrate Harvest Festival, because Harvest Festival is not like a very big festival, like christmas, people are not celebrating it as much as it should be. Personally, I love Harvest Festival because it is near Halloween so I can have another celebration to think about!
